La Pesca, Tamaulipas.— Como cada año, el próximo 16 de julio se llevará a cabo una de las celebraciones más significativas para la comunidad pesquera de la colonia Miguel de la Madrid, mejor conocida como “El Canal”: la festividad en honor a la Virgen del Carmen, considerada la patrona de los mares, los marinos y los pescadores.
Esta tradición profundamente arraigada entre los habitantes de la zona se distingue por una emotiva procesión acuática en la que pescadores y sus familias decoran con flores, globos y ornamentos sus embarcaciones, en una muestra de fe y devoción. Solo una de las lanchas es elegida cada año para llevar la imagen de la Virgen del Carmen durante el recorrido por el río y el mar.
Previo a la travesía, se realiza una ceremonia religiosa encabezada por un sacerdote, quien ofrece oraciones y bendice todas las embarcaciones participantes. Durante la misa, se pide por una pesca abundante, el sustento de las familias locales y la protección de los pescadores en sus labores diarias.
La celebración, además de su carácter religioso, se ha convertido en un punto de encuentro comunitario y un atractivo para visitantes y turistas que desean presenciar una muestra viva de la fe popular y las tradiciones marinas del litoral tamaulipeco.
Autoridades locales y organizadores invitan a la población y a los visitantes a sumarse con respeto a esta festividad, que además de reforzar la identidad cultural de la región, enriquece el vínculo espiritual de quienes dependen del mar para vivir.
